2nd DeGrie (Deutschland-Griechenland) at Ettersburg Schloss. Technical visit at a new railway bridge part of the new high-speed railway line Berlin-Munich.
Washington D.C.
The talk focused on the alternative design solutions contributed by the Department of Civil Engineering of Aristotle University when it was assigned the task to investigate the possibility of retaining the unique antiquities that were found during the construction works of the new city Metro main line, without cancelling the station. It was shown on the basis of cost over the respective benefit that such a challenging engineering task is indeed feasible from both a technical and a financial viewpoint. Given that this proposal was the first feasibility study made at a city level, it is deemed as a significant contribution to the public debate between the local and governmental authorities that essentially lead the way for a fair compromise between the counteracting objectives. Special thanks to Dr. Mullet for the kind invitation. Workshop Videos of all speakers of the "Dynamic Analysis, Testing and Design of Infrastructure to Environmental Loads", organised in Thessaloniki, Greece (11-13 Nov. 2014) in the framework of the Degrie Lab are available in the official Project Website Lecture on the effect of Spatial Variability of Earthquake Ground Motion on the Seismic Response of R/C Bridges
Hybrid test between Greece, Italy, Canada and United States. Presentation made during the 10th National Conference on Earthquake Engineering, Anchorage, United States.
Congratulations to Olympia Taskari for completing her Ph.D.
First evaluation round of the Thessaloniki Smart Up Innovation Hub. A very important step for the Alexander Innovation Zone S.A.
Presentation made in Athens during the Workshop about Cephalonia Earthquake jointly organised by the Society of Civil Engineers, the Hellenic Association for Earthquake Engineering, the Greek branch of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering and the Organisation for Earthquake Protection and Planning. ![]() An amazing event, on educational robotics and means to mitigate nature's fury.
